The Newbold Community Growing Together Community Garden

An encouraging message from Councillor Rachel Massey
"Having watched the Newbold Community Growing Together Community Garden transform from a neglected wasteland of weeds, overgrowth, and fly tipping — once a real blight on the community — into the thriving, harmonious haven it is today has truly been an honour.
This garden is so much more than a green space. It’s a vibrant hub of growth, sustainability, and community spirit. It feeds not only the bees, butterflies, and insects that pollinate the area but also the people who come together for barbecues, bonfires, and joyful get-togethers.
The volunteers behind this transformation are nothing short of amazing. Their dedication, love, and vision for a brighter, greener Newbold is inspiring and heartwarming. We are incredibly lucky to have such a flourishing space — a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together. Here’s to many more years of growth, connection, and flourishing wildlife at Newbold"
Thank you Councillor Massey

About Us
Welcome to Newbold Community Growing Together. This Community Project was started in early 2023 when Rochdale Borough Council offered use of a plot of waste land to Newbold Community Church to develop in to a Community Garden for the benefit the Community of Newbold and the surrounding area. The land being leased from Rochdale Borough Housing. The seed was sown and the challenge was taken up. Our Facebook page will show the progress of the Newbold Community Growing Together Project as it happens!
Location of Garden
The Community Garden is located on Florence Street in Newbold. It can best be accessed from Church Road turning left onto Channing Street or on foot at the far end of Vavasour Walk.
